Press Release - Public Engagement is the Key to bring Bioeconomy Forward
21.02.2018 - Brussels, 22. February. Around 100 bioeconomy experts will meet today at the European Commission in Brussels to discuss findings and recommendations of the EU-funded BioSTEP project. One result after three years of work: European bioeconomy stakeholder engagement needs to focus on civil society integration as a crucial cornerstone to improve the visibility of bioeconomy in the future. The recommendations presented during the final conference of the project will be discussed with leading representatives of the EU Bioeconomy Stakeholder Panel and EC representatives to further develop the European bioeconomy eco-system. More
Bioeconomy Policy Day in Brussels
19.11.2017 - The European Commission invited interested stakeholder and policy makers to its Bioeconomy Policy Day on the 16th of November in Brussels. BioSTEP was selected to be part of the bioeconomy village of the event! More
Successful BioSTEP exhibition in Bulgaria
15.10.2017 - The last BioSTEP exhibition “Bioeconomy in Everyday Life” took place during the Augustiada in Stara Zagora. Key discussion points were the largely unused residues of the Bulgarian agricultural sector and ideas how to valorise them. More
Upcoming third (and last) BioSTEP exhibition
24.09.2017 - In October (13th – 15th) this year, the BioSTEP team will bring the exhibition „Bioeconomy in everyday life“ to Stara Zagora, to the Regional Museum of History. More
Living lab in Italy
21.08.2017 - Between November 2016 and July 2017, the BioSTEP project designed and implemented a so-called living lab in the Veneto region of Italy. The Regional Association of Chambers of Commerce of Veneto with the contribution of Aghetera organised a total of seven meetings in which stakeholders discussed potential policy actions for the further development of the regional bioeconomy. The final stakeholder meeting took place on 28 June 2017. More
In the News: Update of bioeconomy strategy unsure
26.06.2017 - “A decision on a possible revision of the bioeconomy strategy will likely be taken early 2018.” According to Lino Paula from DG Research and Innovation, it is important that “stakeholders get involved and give input now,” in order to assure that the outcomes of the bio-based value chains do fit the needs of society. At the BioSTEP meeting, 55 experts gathered to discuss how the input and needs of the highly diverse stakeholders crucial to a successful transition to bio-based and circular production processes could be merged.
